Rune Hylsberg Jacobsen received his MSc degree (1995) and PhD degree (1997) from Aarhus University in Denmark based on research in ultrafast optoelectronics and laser physics. He is currently group leader of the Communications Systems group in the Electronics and Computer Engineering section at Aarhus University. In 2010, he was appointed associate professor in communications technology. His main research interests includes Future Internet, Internet of Things, wireless sensor networks, embedded systems development, network security and privacy, and smart energy grids. His professional career embrace more than 14 years in the telecommunication and IT industry where he has assumed responsibilities in R&D management and systems engineering in companies as Tieto, L.M. Ericsson and the Danish telecommunication operator TDC. In addition, he works as an expert consultant for the European Commission's Research and Technology Development (RTD) programmes and has participated in a number of European RTD projects in the FP6 and the FP7 programme. Currently, he is the project coordinator if the EU seventh framework programme project SEMIAH.
